Bringing the Scene to Life

by

Lucy Sanna

To keep your readers engaged, every scene must increase tension and compel your story toward a surprising yet inevitable end. A poor scene simply records what happens, moving the narrative down the track like a slow freight train. A compelling scene is all about conflict--internal or external. A compelling scene reveals character through thought, dialogue, gesture and response to sensual detail. Someone wins and someone loses. Something changes, even if it's internal to a character.

In this hands-on workshop, Lucy Sanna incorporates exercises to guide participants in creating convincing scenes that reveal character and propel the story forward. Be prepared to participate in written exercises.
